Bed & Breakfast

A historic house for bed and breakfast guests, the Cider House was formerly part of Buckland Abbey. The building then became a cider barn after the Dissolution of the Monasteries. In 1581, Sir Francis Drake bought the Abbey and lands which stayed in the Drake family until the early 19th century. In the middle of the 20th Century the cider barn was converted into a comfortable private house.

Now, the Cider House is surrounded by beautiful gardens, the subject of numerous magazine articles and is open to the public occasionally under the National Gardens Scheme.
